The Screwtape Letters

Letters from Hell, from one devil to another . . . about you.
A discussion and study led by pastor Bob Jones

In The Screwtape Letters, C. S. Lewis creates a fictional exchange of letters between a demon, Screwtape, and his nephew, Wormwood.  Screwtape and Wormwood are senior and junior devils in a Hell, in which Hell appears as a rather nasty bureaucracy. These devils have been assigned by (their “Father Below,”) to one man, a new Christian.  Screwtape advises Wormwood as to how to disrupt the man's journey towards God. Lewis uses his fictional story to explore and expose the vulnerable human heart and raises questions about temptation and our understanding of the devil and evil itself.  But Lewis also offers humorous, but serious insight into understanding our own hearts and “the devil’s works,” not simple formulas nor shallow clichés.  It’s a great read, not to be missed.
You will need to purchase your own copy of The Screwtape Letters either hardcopy or eBook Please sign up by contacting the office so we can prepare enough study guides.  We’ll meet at 7:20pm on Wednesdays for 6-weeks starting January 6th.
