The Making of A Martyr

Film & Discussion Nights:
Dietrich Bonhoeffer: Pastor Prophet, Martyr, Spy
Led by Pastor Kevin Ewaskow and Pastor Bob Jones
Wednesdays, March 9 & 16
6:30p - 8:30p

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a young German Christian pastor and theologian who was also a pacifist, who also became a double-agent, who also was arrested in connection with an assassination plot to kill Adolph Hitler in Nazi Germany during WW2. If you're thinking "How can a pacifist pastor agree to murder a head of state?" you'll have to find that out for yourself as we gather together to watch and discuss this award winning documentary film. It’s a film not to miss.

Bonhoeffer shows us that, like the apostle Peter, there are no "heroes of the faith," but only disciples, who try to be faithful to the call of Christ one day at a time-right or wrong. Whatever we make of Bonhoeffer's decisions or his actions, one realises here is one very human Christian who actually and willingly took up his "own cross," it's choices and comfort, questions and doubt, to the very end.

We ask that you please sign up for these evenings so that we can have the right amount of handouts prepared.
