Oh, hey there! Welcome to our Palm Sunday service! It's our third time around doing this and we'd like to think that we're getting better at it. Some things are getting streamlined, we're learning as we go and getting a bit more efficient at putting stuff together. Lyric videos are getting (a little) less tedious to create. I've been really impressed with, and blessed by, the willingness of so many to get involved (while maintaining proper social-distancing of course). It really has been a community effort and that is amazing in these times.
This will be reiterated throughout the service, but if you've found your way here this morning we'd like to thank you for being intentional about being involved in your church community. Though we engage in this service through different ways, at different times, in different spaces, know that we worship the same God, and we do it together, as a church community. Thanks for being here.
As you prepare to work through the service, we invite you to find a candle, if you have one, and place it near you on a table or such. Take a moment, a minute, to be silent.
Then light the candle as a symbol of the light and life of Christ in our world, in our midst. (If you do not have a candle, simply pause for a minute and then say aloud, "Thank you, Jesus, for being life and light in our world and in our midst."
And now, a word from Pastor Kevin:
Music & Worship
For prayer time this week, read this part of the Lord’s prayer out loud (It is in the Contemporary English Version):
“Our Father in heaven,
help us to honor Your name.
Come and set up Your kingdom,
so that everyone on earth
will obey You,
as You are obeyed
Give us our food for today.
Forgive us for doing wrong,
as we forgive others.
Keep us from being tempted
and protect us from evil.”
Now go back and in each section think of specific ways that you can do what you are praying and ask the Lord to help guide you to do those things. Or ask God to help other in those things being done. For example: A simple question after the first section might be, “What do we do that honours God?” OR in terms of “Give us food for today”, think of all the people that might be going without food and pray for them, and pray for the organizations that help get food to them, pray for a generous spirit in our city.
When you are done, pray together:
“For Yours is the kingdom God,
The power and the glory,
Forever and Ever. Amen”
